ayurvedic elixir

standing quietly
in garden meditation,
he savored
how very good he felt.

muscles relaxed,
tendons illuminated,
organs vibrant
with the flow of energy
in widening circles,
rising as a gyre
from earth to crown.

he could still feel
the healer’s hands
upon him,
finding and releasing
triggers,
smoothing the knots
with a gentle pressure,
that can only be offered
by strong fingers
accessing ancient knowledge.

he savored the recollection
and the deep connection
that he felt
to the earth
beneath his feet,
to the clouds boiling slowly
in early autumn skies
to the heat of the morning sun,
to the river of blood
flowing effortlessly
through his veins,
to the power of touch,
to hearts opening
and then offering more

as surely as winged creatures
fill the skies
and waves caress the shore.
